A major new hotel will open its doors in Fortitude Valley in just one month’s time.
Rydges Fortitude Valley, located within the Brisbane Showgrounds precinct and intended to introduce “a slice of country hospitality” to the heart of the city, will welcome guests from February 9, following two years of construction.
The global chain is hoping to capture both business and leisure travellers with the new hotel, as the precinct makes a name for itself as a thriving lifestyle destination.
“We envisage the hotel becoming regional Queensland’s home in the city,” says Rydges Fortitude Valley general manager Matthew Hurley, “bringing a new dimension in world-class service with a personal touch to an area known for its cultural heritage and agricultural theme.
“The hotel’s positioning within the Showgrounds precinct and opposite the Royal International Convention Centre (RICC) lends unique appeal to guests wishing to stay and soak up the atmosphere at the many events and festivals held in the district throughout the year.”
The 208-room, four-star hotel will offer a fully equipped gymnasium and heated outdoor pool, while dining options will include the Six Acres Restaurant, offering guests a paddock-to-plate experience.
The hotel’s primary drawcard, however, will be its proximity to the Brisbane Showgrounds, which are currently undergoing a $2.9 billion redevelopment by RNA and Landlease.
The redevelopment is bringing a slew of new apartments to the area, as well as the new King Street retail and food precinct.
Rydges Fortitude Valley will be the second Rydges hotel to open in Brisbane, joining Rydges South Bank.
