Negotiations are underway for Queensland’s second Costco store to come to Logan.
Logan Mayor Pam Parker has confirmed the council is negotiating to bring Costco to the city.
“We have had confidential discussions with Costco and that is all I am prepared to say,” Cr Parker told ABC Radio this morning,
Land just south of the Hyperdome off the M1 is believed to be the most likely location for Costco to set up shop. The land is owned by QIC Global Real Estate, who also own the Hyperdome.
QIC managing director Steven Leigh told The Albert & Logan News that the site has been proposed for development, but preliminary planning has yet to be finalised.
“QIC regularly engages with quality retailers who are seeking opportunities to expand and whose offer meets the needs of our customers,” Mr Leigh said.
“We are unable to provide further comment as any negotiations are commercial-in-confidence.”
Beenleigh-Yatala Chamber of Commerce president Laurie Dore recently revealed at a business breakfast that “Costco was sniffing around” the area.
Costco’s first Queensland store opened in North Lakes last year.
