Everybody’s taken a shot at Trump during his Presidential campaign, but somehow, none of it seems to have slowed him down. Now The Simpsons are taking on The Donald.
Of course, The Simpsons doesn’t have quite the same hold over the zeitgeist that it did in the ’90s, but they may as well give it a shot, right?
The web short takes aim at Trump’s ridiculous hair, his notoriously small hands, his orange skin tone, and even that book of Hitler speeches his ex-wife Ivanka Trump says he used to keep by his bedside.
In particular, the short zeroes in on Hilary Clinton’s most cutting criticism of Trump from last week’s Democratic National Convention — “a man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we can trust with nuclear weapons”.
In the short, Trump ignores an emergency 3am call in order to trash talk Senator Elizabeth Warren, one of his favourite Twitter targets.
Of course, this isn’t the first time the writers of The Simpsons have taken on the idea of a Trump presidency — way back in 2000, they predicted this scenario, which writer Dan Greaney called “the logical last stop before hitting bottom” and “consistent with the vision of America going insane”.
