At this stage, you’ve almost definitely seen Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s videotaped apology for disregarding our biosecurity laws. But don’t you want to see how this masterpiece was made?
The clip, which plays out a lot like an ISIS hostage video, sees Depp and Heard urging people to take our biosecurity laws seriously. The highlight comes when a dead-eyed Depp stares into the camera, pondering everything that must have gone wrong in his life to lead to this moment, and urges us to “declare… everything”.
It’s easy to imagine Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce standing behind the camera and urging them to try another take at gunpoint, and that’s pretty much what YouTube star Natalie Tran has zeroed in on in this revealing ‘behind-the-scenes’ video clip.
Seems legit.
Here’s a taste of how the rest of the internet has responded to Depp’s masterpiece…

Meanwhile, Barnaby Joyce has confirmed his status as the real-life version of the Australian Prime Minister from that one episode of The Simpsons by proudly telling ABC Radio that the video is “going off like a frog in a sock”.
