90-year-old tortoise gets to ride around on wheels after losing legs in a rat attack.
Meet Mrs. T, the 90-year-old tortoise who has been given a new lease at life, and is moving much faster than before.
After a rat attack left Mrs. T sans front legs, her owners Jude Ryder and son Dale affixed wheels to her shell. The wheels came from a model aircraft and allow her even more movement and speed than she had previously. Dale is a mechanical engineer and was able to design and attach the wheels in a way that worked with Mrs. T’s natural movements.
Jude explained, “She took to them straight away, but she has had to learn how to turn and stop. She seems quite happy, but it’s difficult to tell with a tortoise.”
That’s true but she looks like she’s having a wheely good time.
