Prepare the tissues for this heart-wrenching story coming out of Wisconsin in the States, as three basketball players walk off the court to defend a Down syndrome cheerleader who was being bullied.
During a basketball game at Lincoln Middle School in Kenosha, team mates Chase Vasquez, Miles Rodriguez and Scooter Terrien noticed their classmate being harassed by members of the audience. The three boys walked off the court mid game to ask the bullies to stop.
“It’s not fair when other people get treated wrong because we’re all the same”, said Terrien.
Desiree Andrews, who has Down syndrome, is an avid cheerleader and loves partaking in school activities.
Following the incident, the boys as well as their peers have affectionately nicknamed the gym ‘D’s House’, in honour of Miss Andrews.
