Tony Hawk has let us down before, but this time the pro skater’s hoverboard is the real deal.

Hawk was one of several celebs who took part in a hoax hoverboard video earlier this year, but this time he’s promoting the real deal.

The Hendo Hoverboard isn’t quite as advanced as the one featured in Back to the Future II.¬†While the board in the film could run on any surface, this one can only operate on non-ferromagnetic conducter surfaces like aluminium. Even then, it can only hover an inch off the ground, so it’s fair to say you won’t be pulling off any big tricks with it.

Still, this is the closest science has come to delivering on the promise of the ’80s. We’ll take two, thanks.
