Interviews with comedians on breakfast TV can be awkward at the best of times, but it doesn’t help when the interviewer hasn’t seen their movie.
After telling Kristen Wiig and Bill that he loved their new movie, The Skeleton Twins, TV reporter Chris Parente proceeded to ask questions that had nothing to do with The Skeleton Twins — because, even though he loved the movie, he hadn’t actually seen it.
Parente asked Wiig a question about appearing nude on camera, referencing a scene in The Skeleton Twins that doesn’t actually exist.
“Kristen, I am thinking on this program of doing the news completely full-frontal, completely nude,” Parente said. “Do you recommend that, and do you have advice for going nude?”
Wiig is appearing nude in a completely different film, Welcome To Me, in which she plays a woman with borderline personality disorder. (The Skeleton Twins stars Wiig and Hader as estranged twins.)
Wiig and Hader quickly realise that Parente hasn’t actually seen the movie, and give him a good-natured ribbing over it.
As gaffes go, pretending to have seen a movie you haven’t seen is hardly a major scandal, but Parente doesn’t think he’ll live it down anytime soon.
@BrettForrest89 God I will NEVER live it down!
