Hats off to a gentle bear named Vali, who has saved a black hooded crow from drowning at Budapest Zoo.
In the YouTube clip, uploaded by Aleksander Medves, the crow gets caught in the pool in Vali’s enclosure. Vali approaches and pulls the frantic crow out of the water, but to the crowd’s surprise, he doesn’t eat it — he simply places it safely on the ground and walks away.
While the internet has been quick to embrace Vali as a hero bear, the zoo says Vali was probably just curious and didn’t actually intend to save the crow’s life. But we won’t let that get in the way of a good story, will we?
