The Brisbane Roar have signed former Socceroo Adam Sarota for the 2014-15 A-League season on a one-year loan deal.
Former Socceroo Adam Sarota will re-join the Brisbane Roar on a one-year loan deal for the 2014-15 A-League season.
Sarota began his playing career with the Queensland club as part of their National Youth League team, before making 15 senior appearances between 2008-10.
The 25-year-old midfielder joined Dutch side FC Utrecht in 2010 as part of a package deal alongside Tommy Oar and Michael Zullo.
He has made 47 appearances in the Dutch Eredivisie competition over the past four seasons and will return to Brisbane after the reigning A-League champions struck a deal with FC Utrecht.
“With the challenges in front of us this season, it is very important we have a squad with depth across all positions,” Brisbane coach Mike Mulvey said.
“We are very pleased to have Adam on board and we are looking forward to welcoming him back to the club this coming week.”
After making his Australian debut in a friendly against Germany in 2011, Sarota made three international appearance and was part of Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou’s preliminary 25-man squad for this year’s World Cup in Brazil.
Sarota is expected to return to Australia next week.
“Adam is a Queenslander and more importantly, he’s a great person and a quality player who we’re certain will fit right back into our playing group,” Mulvey said.
