ACT Brumbies hooker Josh Mann-Rea is in line to make his Test debut off the bench after Saia Fainga’s withdrew to attend the birth of his first child.

Saia Fainga’a has withdrawn from the Wallabies’ Test against South Africa to attend the birth of his first child and will be replaced on the bench by ACT Brumbies hooker Josh Mann-Rea.

The 33-year-old Mann-Rea has been on standby all week as cover for his Queensland Reds counterpart, who has returned to Brisbane, and is now in line to make his Test debut.

Queensland’s James Hanson will start against the Springboks in Perth later Saturday.

With Tatafu Polota-Nau, Stephen Moore, Tolu Latu, Heath Tessman, Siliva Siliva and Nathan Charles injured, Mann-Rea is effectively Australia’s ninth-choice hooker.
