A police officer was allegedly punched repeatedly while trying to arrest a naked man who was causing a disturbance in a busy Brisbane street.

Police have used a Taser to subdue a naked man who was causing a disturbance in a busy inner-Brisbane street.

Residents and workers on Browning Street in West End called officers about 9am (AEST) on Friday.

The 22-year-old had disrobed and was allegedly damaging cars.

Police allege he punched an officer as she was attempting to arrest him.

He was eventually apprehended after being hit with the stun-gun.

A police spokesman was unable to say where on his body he was hit with the weapon.

The female officer was reportedly taken to hospital with concussion.

Stunned witnesses said the man was running up and down the street prior to the altercation with police.

“Quite surprising, quite disruptive and it was quite confronting,” Florina Alman told ABC radio.

The man is expected to be charged with seriously assaulting a police officer.
