Queensland’s road toll this year has risen to 134 after two fatal crashes within 12 hours – one on the Sunshine Coast and the other near Gympie.
A man has died after his car veered off the road and burst into flames on the Sunshine Coast.
The 38-year-old was driving north along Nicklin Way in Wurtulla around 3am on Friday when his sedan left the road.
Police say the car slammed into the rear of a parked truck and caught fire. He died at the scene.

A man was killed in a single vehicle accident at Kybong, south of Gympie, on Thursday afternoon. A 56-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision.
Senior Constable Mark Readman warned motorists to drive to the conditions, given there had been little rainfall across the region for some time.
“We just want people to drive to the conditions, take a bit of extra time, realise that braking is going to take longer on wet roads, and observe those speed limits” he told the ABC.
