Australian basketball player Brock Motum has accepted an invite to a training camp with NBA franchise the Utah Jazz.

The Utah Jazz might soon become Australia’s favourite NBA team, with Brisbane’s Brock Motum accepting an invite to a training camp with the franchise.

The Jazz already boast an Australian in their ranks, having earlier this month signed Melbourne-born draftee Dante Exum.

The much-hyped teenage prodigy got his first hit-out in his new colours at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, alongside Australian Boomers teammate Motum.

Motum averaged eight points and 4.6 rebounds per game, compared to Exum’s 7.2 points-2.6 rebounds with less minutes on court.

The towering forward – described by one US media outlet as a “frizzy-haired blonde surfer-looking dude” reminiscent of a “young Mick Dundee” – played three seasons with Washington State but is currently contracted to Bologna in Italy’s top league.

However, it’s believed he has a clause in his two-year deal to leave the outfit if signed by an NBA team.

Motum is set to feature in Australia’s World Cup campaign in Spain later this year after being named in coach Andrej Lemanis’ preliminary 17-man squad last week.
