A police officer in north Queensland will face Cairns Magistrates Court next month after being caught drink driving on Sunday night.

A Queensland police officer will face court next month after being caught drink driving.

The officer, who was off-duty at the time, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.064 at a roadside testing site in Cairns on Sunday night.

The 35-year-old has been served with a notice to appear and will face Cairns Magistrates Court on August 5, while the Queensland police service disciplinary system will also consider the matter.
