A 16-year-old girl has been charged following the robbery of two teenage boys in north Brisbane for their mobile phones.

Two teenage boys might be reluctant to tell their mates about how they were mugged for their mobile phones – given a girl the same age as them was one of those allegedly responsible.

Police say the two boys, 16, were walking down a Zillmere road in Brisbane’s north on Monday afternoon when they were approached by a black four-wheel-drive.

Three people in the vehicle allegedly assaulted the boys and took off with their phones.

The vehicle, which had been stolen within the past week, was found abandoned on Tuesday morning after it had crashed into a light pole.

A 16-year-old girl has been charged with stealing, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, armed robbery, demanding property with menace and obstructing police.

She’ll be dealt with under Youth Justice Act provisions.

Investigations are continuing.
