After managing just 11 games for the Roar last season, Diogo Ferreira hopes to earn more chances at Perth Glory after signing a two-year deal.
New Perth signing Diogo Ferreira says his move to the Glory is a timely one as the former Victory and Roar defender attempts to get his A-League career back on track.
Ferreira struggled for opportunities during the Roar’s Championship-winning campaign this season, with the 24-year-old playing just 11 games.
And with the Roar boasting a host of stars, Ferreira jumped at the chance to join Perth Glory on a two-year deal.
Ferreira, who came through the youth academy of Portuguese giants FC Porto and played 52 games for Melbourne Victory between 2010-13, joins Wanderers striker Youssouf Hersi and former Socceroo Dino Djulbic as new Glory signings.
Ferreira felt his move to Glory would be good for his career.
“It was a great experience to be a part of a Championship-winning side at Brisbane,” said Ferreira, who didn’t play in the Roar’s finals campaign.
“However, having spoken to (Glory coach) Kenny Lowe, I’ve gained a good insight into the ambitions of the club and the players that he is close to signing.
“I believe it’s a great opportunity for me to now be part of a team that I feel will be challenging at the top of A-League ladder in the coming seasons.”
