North Queensland have announced the re-signing of back-rower Gavin Cooper for a further three NRL seasons.
North Queensland stalwart Gavin Cooper has signed a new three-year deal with the NRL club.
The 28-year-old back-rower, who debuted for the Cowboys in 2006, will stay in Townsville until the end of the 2017 season.
He joins veteran outside back Brent Tate as a key member of the Cowboys’ squad to renew a deal within the past week.
Cooper, who had two-season stints at Gold Coast and Penrith before re-joining the Cowboys in 2011, is closing in on 100 games for the club.
The Australian Prime Minister’s XIII representative has played 98 games for the Cowboys and 174 appearances overall in his NRL career.
“This club has been a major part of my life,” Cooper said.
“We have a great squad, with plenty of good players and good mates who have committed themselves to being long-term Cowboys. I’m happy to be one of them.”
