The Warriors are set to sack coach Matthew Elliott after a poor start to the NRL season according to reports.
The Warriors are set to part ways with coach Matthew Elliott after a disappointing start to the NRL season, according to reports on Sunday.
News Limited are reporting Elliott was informed on Sunday morning that the Warriors were looking to “move in a different direction” after the club’s 37-6 thrashing to Cronulla on Saturday.
The article says a formal announcement is expected over the coming days.
After an impressive pre-season, a stirring performance at the Auckland Nines and the big off-season acquisition of Wigan superstar Sam Tomkins, the Warriors have been one of the big flops so far in the NRL.
They were thrashed by Parramatta 36-16 in round one before losing 31-12 to St George Illawarra at Eden Park in round two.
They bounced back with back-to-back wins over North Queensland and Wests Tigers but were woeful in the loss to the Sharks.
Elliott took to Instagram to post a message on Sunday night.
“Life is not about agreeing with decisions. Its very rare when everyone does,” he wrote.
“It’s about dealing with decisions, finding how they serve you best.
“And getting on with life.”
