Police are searching for a Chinese man who failed to show up for the crew muster on a Chinese bulk carrier which is moored off Queensland.
Police are investigating the disappearance of a Chinese crew member from a cargo ship off eastern Cape York.
Queensland officers say the Hong Kong-registered bulk carrier Great Talent has been moored about 12 nautical miles off Weipa for the last six days.
The man, a Chinese national, was last seen by a fellow crewmate on Sunday.
But the man failed to show up during a muster early on Monday morning.
Two helicopters and a boat have been searching waters around the ship, but have thus far failed to find any trace of him.
A police spokeswoman told AAP that officers were not sure whether the disappearance was suspicious or not.
The search is set to continue at first light on Tuesday.
