Brisbane Roar’s Besart Berisha has been handed a one-match ban for his two-footed challenge on Sydney’s Sebastian Ryall.
Brisbane Roar striker Besart Berisha has received the minimum ban of one match for his reckless tackle on Sydney FC’s Sebastian Ryall.
The Albanian superboot received a straight red card in the 40th minute of Friday night’s Allianz Stadium clash for his two-footed challenge on Ryall.
The decision was labelled by furious Roar coach Mike Mulvey as “not the A-League’s finest moment.”
Berisha still managed to score before leaving the field in the 1-1 draw, breaking the dead-lock with his 11th strike of the season.
But league-leaders Roar will now be without their most potent attacking weapon for the top-of-the-table clash against second-placed Melbourne Victory on Saturday.
A win on Saturday will secure the Roar the Premiers’ Plate.
