Alessandro Del Piero’s A-League stint with Sydney FC is reportedly set to end at the conclusion of this season.
Sydney FC are reportedly set to part ways with Alessandro Del Piero at the end of the A-League season.
The Sydney FC board met during the week and decided not to offer the Italian striker the one-year contract extension he was seeking, according to Fairfax Media.
De Piero, who’s earning about $4 million a season with the Sky Blues and turns 40 in November, sat out Friday night’s 1-1 draw with the Brisbane Roar at Allianz Stadium due to back and hamstring tightness.
Similar complaints have restricted his game time this season after a brilliant debut campaign in 2012-13 with Sydney FC that yielded a club-record 14 goals.
