A 58-year-old Brisbane man has been arrested outside a Hobart abortion clinic after handing out anti-abortion material.
A Brisbane man has been arrested in Hobart under new laws designed to keep protesters away from abortion clinics.
Police say the 58-year-old man was handing out anti-abortion material near a clinic on Tuesday and refused to leave when an officer told him to move on.
He was arrested, charged and bailed to appear in court at a later date.
In 2013, Tasmania became the first state or territory to introduce “access zones” outside abortion clinics.
Activists are not allowed within 150 metres of a clinic and can be charged for harassing, filming or protesting against people visiting such centres.
