Two Sydney men accused of assaulting a man while on the Gold Coast for a church camp will stay behind bars until April.

Amanaki Kaufusi, 21, and Onesi Taufui, 18, were charged with grievous bodily harm after allegedly striking a 24-year-old man in Surfers Paradise in December.

Police prosecutors told the court in December the men were in Queensland for a Mormon camp when the attack occurred.

Taufui is alleged to have also stomped on the man’s head, and the victim required hospitalisation for a broken jaw.

Neither Kaufusi nor Taufui appeared during a brief mention on Wednesday at Southport Magistrates Court.

The pair have been denied bail, and their case was adjourned until April 15.
