Melbourne Victory have signed striker Besart Berisha, with the Albanian to switch A-League sides at the end of the 2013/14 season.

Striker Besart Berisha will leave Brisbane Roar at the end of the season to join A-League rivals Melbourne Victory.

The Roar confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that they would not be re-signing the Albanian international due to a lack of room in the salary cap.

Berisha will depart the side once their 2013/14 campaign ends, becoming the Victory’s international marquee for the next two seasons.

“Besart has been performing at the highest level week-in, week-out for Brisbane and has caused plenty of headaches for opposition defenders and coaches, including myself,” Victory coach Kevin Muscat said.

“He’s a proven goal-scorer and a player that we can’t wait to welcome to Melbourne Victory.”
