Alert your squadron.
After months of anticipation, we finally have a date and a time for when Rogue One: A Star Wars Story tickets will go on sale — it’s this Monday 28 November at 7am (AEST).
The first of (what Disney hopes will be) a long line of ‘standalone’ Star Wars films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story flashes back to the events that took place just before the original Star Wars film, A New Hope, and depicts a group of unlikely rebel heroes banding together to steal the plans to the Death Star.
“Rogue One takes place very close to Episode IV [A New Hope],” director Gareth Edwards explains. “The simplest way to explain it is — that text you see at the beginning of A New Hope, that is essentially our movie.”
In Sydney, Star Wars fans will gather at George Street Event Cinemas on Monday 28 November to celebrate tickets going on sale by taking part in the ‘Ultimate Star Wars Mannequin Challenge’. Using a one-take video technique, fans dressed in their finest Star Wars costumes and cosplay outfits will be choreographed to create a scene between the Rebels and the Empire forces.
The rest of us will be on our computers at 7am, snatching up our tickets.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story — starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna and Aussie Ben Mendelsohn — hits cinemas on Thursday 15 December.
