The winners of the second annual St George pop-up program have been announced.
The 13 small business champions from NSW, QLD, WA and the ACT will each open a pop-up shop in a high-traffic retail space within a St George branch from 7 September to 2 October. The bank will also provide funding for the finalists to fully kit out their stores, which they will operate for four weeks.
The Brisbane winner of the St George pop-up program is VetShop, a family vet business with a focus on making it more affordable for people to keep their dogs, cats and other pets in great shape.
“The pop-up shop has come at a perfect time as September is the ideal period to plan for the risk of natural disasters that might take place over the summer months,” says VetShop owner Steven Perissinotto. “It’s a great way to promote our business, but also help people care for their pets just that little bit better.
“We’re also heavily involved in animal welfare and have been selected by the RSPCA to bring out a range of RSPCA animal health products which will be launching later this year. The pop-up store will be a great opportunity to promote these products and support the RSPCA.”
“This round of pop-ups is focused on showcasing our local business champions,” says Justin Morris, Head of SME (small & medium enterprises) for St George Queensland, “and giving them a platform to extend their reach in our own branches. It’s an opportunity for us to recognise small businesses like VetShop and help them spread their message and distribution further and provide another avenue to market their business.”
VetShop’s pop-up shop will be located at the St George Brisbane branch on the corner of George Street and the Queen Street Mall.
