Offspring fans could be getting their wish for a new season granted later this year.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Channel Ten is in talks to revive the popular show for a sixth season.
It’s been two years since the end of the fifth season of Offspring and fans are salivating at the thought of finally getting a new season.
Production companies, Endemol and Shine are currently in the middle of a merger, but a new season of the Australian favourite hasn’t been ruled out once the merge is completed.
Fans around the country have been wishing and hoping for the return of their beloved Nina Proudman, played by Asher Keddie.
Keddie has indicated her readiness to return to TV after taking a break to spend time with her expanding family.
Since the show has passed the 65 episode mark, any further episodes would cost an extra 30 per cent to produce.
Channel Ten’s chief programming officer, Beverley McGarvey doesn’t foresee an issue with the extra cost though.
“There have been five seasons but dramas can go a lot longer than that,” Ms McGarvey has said.
“We’re in the process of talking about how we would keep going. It is certainly our intention to make that series last as possible and as long as people want to keep watching it.
“It was such a powerful end to last season but the team has done a great job of… getting back to the heart and the humour of the show.”
