New South Wales local Ellie Drennan has become The Voice 2015.
Last night marked the end of season four of The Voice Australia and saw 16 year-old Drennan become the youngest contestant to win the competition.
Drennan was the finalist for Team Jessie J, who revelled in a triumph on her very first season on the show.
Drennan’s powerful rendition of Nothing Compares to You by Sinead O’Connor is what pushed her ahead of the other finalists.
According to news.com.au, the competition’s runner-up was Joe Moore from Team Madden, with Nathan Hawes, also from Team Madden taking third place and Team Ricky’s Liam Maihi coming fourth.
The finalists each got the chance to perform with their superstar coaches one more time, with Drennan and Jessie J singing Beyonce’s Halo, Moore belting out Imagine Dragons’ Demons, Hawes jumped on stage with Benji Madden to sing Wonderwall by Oasis and Maihi and Ricky Martin pumped up the crowd with James Arthur’s You’re Nobody Til Somebody Loves You.
After being announced as the winner Drennan left a grateful message on Twitter for all her fans and supporters.
Drennan’s coach, Jessie J talked about how much she admired Drennan for the beautiful, wise and professional person she has already become.
“Honestly, I’m so proud of her, I can’t explain how much I’ve enjoyed being here,” Jessie J told news.com.au
As part of the lead up to the announcement of the winner, Drennan performed her original song, Ghost, which will be the first single from her first album and is due for release on 11 September.
