Procrastinators and night owls, rejoice — it’ll be easier than ever to get your last-minute Christmas shopping done this year, with two Westfield centres set to open later than ever before.
Both Westfield Garden City and Westfield Chermside will open for 33 consecutive hours in the lead-up to Christmas, with hundreds of thousands of shoppers expected to take advantage of the extended trading hours.
The marathon is a first for Brisbane, but still leaves us lagging far behind New South Wales, where some retail hotspots have already commenced 24-hour trading, and will continue to do so right up until Christmas.
The extended trading hours, made possible by an application to the Industrial Relations Commission, will see both Chermside and Garden City open from 8am on December 23 until 5:30pm on Christmas Eve.
