The festive season is upon us already and celebrations are gearing up across the city to make this year the most exciting Christmas in Brisbane yet!
Brisbane will be full to the brim with Christmas cheer with an exciting line-up of family favourite events along with some special new crowd-pleasers.
This year, our Christmas program will be bigger and better than ever with more than 200 free events and activities across The City and South Bank.
The festivities will start with the much-loved Lighting of the Brisbane City Christmas Tree in King George Square on Friday, 28 November, from 6.30pm.
The Myer Christmas Parade and Pantomime will run daily from 12-21 December from 6.30pm, and feature more than 200 talented performers, giant inflatable decorations, dancers from the Queensland Ballet and, of course, Santa and his reindeer.
Each night, the pantomime will be followed by the Gold Lotto City Hall Light Spectacular which will see City Hall light up with magical 3D projections every 15 minutes, from 7.30pm to midnight (until 24 December).
Families will also be able to take advantage of some new events at South Bank including the dive-in Christmas Cinema Series at Streets Beach, with Christmas films on the silver screen each night from 17-23 December, from 6.30pm.
South Bank will also host the first-ever Christmas Markets with a Brisbane twist: the cobbled streets will be transformed into a treasure trove of Christmas-themed stalls, twinkling lights and festive live music and carollers (in Stanley Street Plaza on 12-23 December, from 11am to 8pm daily).
Also not to be missed will be the Christmas Fireworks Spectacular, which can be enjoyed from Clem Jones Promenade or Victoria Bridge (over four nights on 17, 19-21 December, at 8.15pm)
Last year our Christmas program brought more than 328,000 visitors into the city and helped generate an estimated $3.8 million dollars a day for the CBD economy.
Brisbane’s CBD will be abuzz each and every day of the week so come and discover the magic of Christmas in The City and enjoy our biggest and best festive season yet.
