People across the world will be returning to work over the coming weeks after the festive season. How do you start back at work with a smile rather than a slump?

Holidays are drawing to a close and you have to go back to work after stress free bliss and you aren’t looking forward to it. Here are five tips to make the transition between holidays and work as trouble free as possible.

1. Sleep
Make sure for the week leading up to returning to work your get a solid 8 hours of sleep every night. No benders or late nights out, your body and mind need rest to be rested so they can adapt quickly to the change in routine.

2. Dress to impress (yourself)

If the bank account permits buy a new outfits or even just part of a new outfit, so you can look forward to wearing it on your first day back.

3. Be prepared

There is nothing worse than dreading work because you aren’t prepared for the work you have to do. Make sure you have everything you need from the basics like stationary to reports or anything else you need to dive straight back into work.

4. Take a break

Make sure while you are still working back into your routine you reward yourself with lunches that don’t make you want to skip your break all together. Lunches are an important time to take a break even for just ten minutes to refresh your mind and refuel.

5. Accentuate the positives
Focus on the positives, you’re back at work but you’re also being productive and starting a new year full of possibilities, set yourself some new goals to tackle in 2014.
