Visualizing is an important part of achieving goals, so make a vision board and move one step closer to success.
When you have decided what your New Year resolutions are going to be or you have set yourself a task like quitting smoking, it can be hard to keep striving for your goals. A vision board is a nifty eye-pleasing tool that can help keep you motivated and in some cases put a smile on your face before you start the each day.
Follow these steps to create your very own vision board to get you motivated and thinking positive in 2014.
Find a quiet place to sit down and think about your goals and aspirations for the year ahead. You can find a place at home or even at a local park or coffee shop. Now think about – What you want to achieve? Take a piece of paper and pen and write down anything that pops into your head and write it down.
Look at your notes and decide what area you want your vision board to focus on. It’s best to at least pick a central theme to make sure your vision board is focused and not just a random collection of quotes and pictures. You also have to decide if you want to create a physical vision board with a cork board or if you want to create a virtual one with a program like Google Picasa.
Now that you have made your hard decision it is time to start hunting and gathering material for your vision board. Collect everything from quotes, sayings or just plain advice you got from mum and write/type them or pin them on the board. Collect photos that you know will evoke emotions in you and will help you stay focused on your goal. You can also include photos of what you are trying to achieve, like if you want to get fit post photos of fit people, or if you want to quit smoking post photos of happy smiling smoke free faces.
Now you have gathered your material it is time for you to create your vision board How you go about it is entirely up to you and there is not right or wrong way to do it. The finished product should fill your mind with your chosen theme and make you think about what you want t o achieve.
Now everyday look at your vision board at least once and feel the emotions stirring as you look at the words and images. Make sure you spend time looking at all the images and words or you might miss one that could give that the extra boot you need to keep going!
