When three opera singers form a group, debut at No. 1 where they remain for nine weeks, achieving five-times platinum status in six weeks in their home market – outselling such Grammy Award-winning acts as Lorde – you have to sit up and take notice.

SOL3 MIO is comprised of two tenor brothers, Pene and Amitai Pati, and their baritone cousin Moses Mackay. Their self-titled album, which was released in Australia on 25 April, features opera classics, modern surprises and of course the soaring voices and emotional harmonies that make up the unique sound of SOL3 MIO.

Total prize value: $500.
