David Williamson’s comedy, Rupert, based on the life and times of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, is headed to Sydney for an exclusive premiere season at the Theatre Royal, opening on Saturday 29 November for a strictly limited four-week season.

Guy Edmonds tackles the role of young Rupert, with James Cromwell (Babe) playing the senior Murdoch. Comedian Jane Turner (Kath and Kim) will play the two iron ladies: Baroness Margaret Thatcher and Dame Elisabeth Murdoch.

Charting his stellar rise to the top, Rupert tap dances his way through his first newspaper acquisitions, discoes towards his American breakthrough, shares a fiery flamenco with Margaret Thatcher, and charms some colourful characters including Tony Blair and Wendi Deng. But what happens when the man behind the news suddenly becomes the news?
