Win tickets to see James Morrison perform at QPAC, as well as a copy of his new album, A Fine Bromance!
Trumpet maestro James Morrison will join forces with ARIA Award-winning indie-pop songstress, Megan Washington, and the fleet-fingered genius of jazz piano, Marian Petrescu, for one monumental performance at QPAC on Friday 31 July.
Morrison will release his new album, A Fine Bromance — a collaboration with Finnish/Romanian jazz pianist Marian Petrescu — on Friday 24 July in JB Hi-Fi and Sanity stores.
“This recording is more than just a musical partnership,” says Morrison. “Perhaps once in a lifetime (if you’re lucky) you play with a musician who, from the moment you meet, seems to be one such old friend. Someone who plays exactly what you need at any given moment, not only to support — but also to inspire your every move. For me, Marian Petrescu is that once in a lifetime occurrence, we both knew it from the first note.”
The ARIA-winning Morrison has recorded over 30 albums and been inducted into the Jazz Hall of Fame. This is his latest recording on Fanfare Jazz.
“Two giants of jazz meet in this very special studio recording,” says label head Robert Rigby. “Romanian virtuoso pianist, Marian Petrescu joins forces with our very own, undisputed King of Jazz, James Morrison. With dazzling technique and dynamic interpretation this is a celebration of all that is intoxicating about jazz — swinging grooves and the feeling that comes from being amongst friends… a fine bromance indeed.”
Two lucky bmag readers will each win a double pass to James Morrison’s show at QPAC on Friday 31 July, as well as a copy of Morrison’s new album with Marian Petrescu, A Fine Bromance!
