Palace Cinemas will host Potterfest, a Harry Potter movie marathon, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Boy Who Lived.

Believe it or not, it’s been 20 years since the publication of JK Rowling’s first Harry Potter novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Yes, we’re all very old and our lives are slipping away.

To take our minds off this depressing fact, here comes Potterfest, a 23-hour movie marathon that will feature all eight Harry Potter films, kicking off with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and concluding with the Eddie Redmayne spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The event was initially limited to the Astor Theatre in Melbourne, but with tickets selling fast, it’s been expanded to Chauvel Cinema in Sydney, Palace Electric in Canberra, and, yes, Palace Centro in Brisbane.

Tickets to watch Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint grow old before your very eyes on the big screen will set you back $45 for an adult (or $38 if you’re a student and $35 if you’re a Movie Club member).

Potterfest will be held at Palace Centro (39 James St, Fortitude Valley) from Saturday 23 September to Sunday 24 September. Tickets are on sale now at palacecinemas.com.au/events/potterfest.
