The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever is coming back to Brisbane.

Last year, more than 150 Brisbanites turned out in the pouring rain at Bedford Park in Spring Hill to reenact the music video for Kate Bush’s ‘Wuthering Heights’.

No, it wasn’t the result of some mass hallucination — it was actually part of a global event that takes place on the same day in capital cities all over the world.

The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever pays tribute to Kate Bush’s surprise 1978 hit, which made her a star and remains something of an oddity in the history of pop music.

The video for the track featured Bush frolicking in a field wearing a red dress, and that’s what Bush fans all over the world reenact on The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever.

Superfan Kristian Fletcher has been staging Kate Bush tribute events in Brisbane since 2003, but last year was the first time Brisbane took part in The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever. In 2017, he’s hoping for an ever bigger turn-out.

“I’ve been paying tribute to Kate Bush for over a decade now and, after a successful launch last year, it’s great to be back as part of this global event,” he says.

From 2:30pm, Fletcher will attempt to fill Bedford Park with as many people as he can wearing red dresses and honouring Kate Bush. The afternoon will include practice runs of the song and an instructional introduction to the dance moves.

After the event in the park, fans can kick on to the Kate Bush Bash — a night of Kate Bush music, video clips and live performances by local artists — upstairs at Jubilee Hotel from 6pm.

The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever will take place at Bedford Park (8 Love Street, Spring Hill) on Saturday 15 July from 2:30pm. This event is open to all ages.

The Kate Bush Bash will be held at Jubilee Hotel (470 St Paul’s Terrace, Fortitude Valley) on Saturday 15 July from 6pm. This is an 18+ event. For tickets, visit kristianfletcher.com.
