Brisbane’s scariest festival is back.
After debuting in 2016, the Horror Movie Campout will return to Sirromet Wines this weekend for another overnight festival of frights.
Essentially, it’s a horror movie festival — the massive outdoor cinema will play a range of intense short horror films, followed by a horror double-feature voted on by campers prior to the event. But it’s more than that, too.
‘Immersive scare actors’ — in other words, people in costumes who have been hired to scare the bejesus out of you — will roam the campsite, and those who really want to test their courage will be able to brave the ‘death chamber’ scare maze.
On the main stage, art punk rockers Destrends will perform, which we can only assume will be horrifying.
There’ll also be a silent ‘slasher’ disco, and the ‘Horror Bar’ will serve up a wide variety of beverages, including award-winning Sirromet wines, and there’ll also be hot dinner options and snacks available from local vendors on site.
You’re strongly encouraged to come dressed in costume, with free SFX make-up available on site to enhance your look and prizes on offer for the best-dressed camper.
The strictly 18+ Horror Movie Campout at Sirromet Wines (850-938 Mount Cotton Road, Mount Cotton) will open at noon on Saturday 20 May, before the campsite closes at 10:30am on Sunday 21 May. For more info and tickets, visit moviecampout.com.au.
