I thought we’d go for a little Bohemian Rhapsody, gentlemen?

Brisbane, we officially have a pretty weird new trend on our hands.

You might remember that last month, we told you about Fortitude Valley venue Black Bear Lodge’s plans to devote an entire evening to the greatest song in the history of recorded media, Toto’s Africa.

Now, within a week of that historic event being held, Fortitude Valley venue The Brightside is devoting an entire night to a song that is, by comparison, just okay — Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.

This is the real life, not fantasy — the venue will be playing the track at least once every 15 minutes, sandwiched in between other classic power ballads from the ’70s and ’80s.

For extra authenticity, you can dress up as members of Queen or the cast of Wayne’s World.

The 18+ event will be held in The Brightside beer garden (27 Warner Street, Fortitude Valley) from 8pm this Thursday 19 January. Entry is free.
