After skipping Brisbane on their last Australian tour, Canadian indie pop duo Tegan and Sara are coming back to town.

The pair played Splendour in the Grass this year, as well as sold-out shows in Sydney and Melbourne, but — as per the standard Splendour in the Grass deal — they didn’t play a show in Brisbane.

Now they’re making it up to us, with Brisbane set to be the first stop on their 2017 tour.

It’ll be the first time Brisbane audiences will get a live taste of their eighth studio album, Love You to Death, which includes their hit single, Boyfriend.

Hailed as their “strongest, catchiest record to date” by Buzzfeed, it’s an album about how “debilitating and transformative” relationships can be.

The duo’s previous album, Heartthrob, was their pop breakthrough. Over the course of a career spanning more than 20 years, they’ve won multiple Juno Awards and been nominated for two Polaris Prizes and a Grammy, and have cultivated a massive international fanbase.

Tegan and Sara will play The Tivoli (52 Costin Street, Fortitude Valley) on Monday 6 March 2017; tickets go on sale at 9am this Thursday 15 December at
