Roma Street Parkland will transform into a summer wonderland for Christmas!
If it’s the summertime vibe that gets you excited about Christmas in Brisbane, and you really dig the idea of lounging in nature on a warm, balmy night, then Roma Street Parkland is where you’ll want to be this December.
The parkland will be reimagining the traditional winter wonderland for the first time ever, with a free program of outdoor events.
Oh, what fun it is to celebrate Christmas at Roma Street Parkland with a walk through the Enchanted Garden, free Christmas movies under the stars, live music and plenty of kids’ activities!
The Enchanted Garden
9-18 December, 6:30pm-9pm nightly
Shine a little light on the festive season with a walk through the Enchanted Garden.
For the first time, the Spectacle Garden at Roma Street Parkland will be illuminated by a twinkling light display, promising to take you on a magical journey.
During busy times, access into the gardens may be phased.
Christmas Movies in the Park
10-16 December, from 5:30pm (Movies commence at 7pm)
For seven nights over December, Roma Street Parkland’s Amphitheatre is turning into the ultimate outdoor cinema, playing all your favourite Christmas classics. Netflix and chill is so last year, FREE outdoor movies is what it’s all about. Oh and did we mention there will be food trucks peddling delicious eats from 5.30pm?
Roma Street Parkland’s Family Christmas Concert
11 December, 3pm-5pm
Consider yourself a Brisbanite? Then you probably consider yourself a bit of a live music fan, and what goes better with music than sunshine. Enjoy the late afternoon sun with music performed by Brisbane Symphonic Band and Brass who will be playing all your favourite carols for the whole family to enjoy, plus a visit from Santa. Food trucks will be onsite from 2pm.
12-16 December, 3:30pm-5:30pm
Visitors of all ages are invited to channel their creative spirit to design and make their own bamboo lantern in this free workshop. The finished lanterns will contribute to a wider art installation in the Enchanted Garden, growing throughout the week as more lanterns are added. The workshop is suitable for all ages, although younger children may need assistance. Participants will be able to collect their lantern at the end of the installation.
13 December, 9:30am-11:30am
Cost: $2 per child
Little festive fans can get creative with Sprouts in the Park Christmas Workshop, where kids can create their own Christmas tree decoration to take home and enjoy. Suitable for ages 3 to 12 years.
18 December, 11:00am-3:00pm
Cost: $5 per child
This is your opportunity to make a special mini Christmas Wreath made from Australian Natives, just like the one at the entrance to the Enchanted Garden. Suitable for all ages 3 to 12 years.
