Comedy legend Jerry Seinfeld has announced his first Brisbane show ever.
The observational comedy genius was last in Australia in 1998, when he performed in Melbourne and Sydney. But this time, Brisbane won’t miss out.
“Australia may be far in miles but I feel very close to the people because of our mutual comedy connection. I couldn’t be more excited about seeing everyone there again,” Seinfeld said in a statement.
Seinfeld has been performing since 1976, but is obviously best known for his eponymous TV series, co-created with Larry David, that ran from 1989 to 1998.
The aptly-named Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, the web series that Seinfeld created, directs and hosts, has been renewed for a ninth season. The show has seen Seinfeld interview fellow comedy gods like Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, David Letterman, Chris Rock, Louis CK, Tina Fey, Patton Oswalt, Ricky Gervais, Jon Stewart, Steve Martin, Garry Shandling and, uh, Barack Obama.
Jerry Seinfeld will play the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Wednesday 9 August. Telstra pre-sale tickets will go on sale from 11am on Tuesday 8 November, before tickets go on sale to the general public from 9am on Monday 14 November via Ticketek.
