Nick Cave has announced his first tour since the tragic death of his son in 2015.

The tour follows the release of Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds’ 16th studio album, the harrowing Skeleton Tree, and the intense documentary film, One More Time With Feeling.

Both the album and the documentary film, directed by Andrew Dominik (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford), deal with the death of Cave’s 15-year-old son, Arthur, in a cliff fall last year.

Cave has declined to do interviews since Arthur’s death, preferring to let his work do the talking.

Despite being a deeply personal record, Skeleton Tree topped charts in eight countries, including Australia, where it debuted atop the ARIA Albums Chart.

As well as Cave and close collaborator Warren Ellis, the band’s touring line-up will include Martyn Casey, Thomas Wydler, Jim Sclavunos, Conway Savage, George Vjestica and Larry Mullins.

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds will play the Brisbane Riverstage on Wednesday 25 January with special guests The Necks. Tickets will go on sale at 8am this Thursday 27 October through OzTix.
