Take me down to the River City, where the grass is green and the girls are pretty.
Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan are about to tour Australia together for the first time since 1993’s Use Your Illusion tour.
The tour announcement was the week’s worst kept secret, after a giant billboard went up in Melbourne for a Guns N’ Roses show at the MCG before an official announcement was made, and now it’s official.
The Not In This Lifetime reunion tour has seen the iconic trio play together to rave reviews at stadiums around the world. The Appetite For Destruction-era trio of Slash, Duff McKagan and Axl Rose are joined on stage by longtime keyboardist Dizzy Reed, as well as Richard Fortus and Frank Ferrer, who joined the group during the Chinese Democracy era.
The group’s original drummer, Steven Adler, has also made a cameo appearance, although he’s not expected to make the trip to Australia, while original rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin has skipped the tour altogether.
The support act has yet to be announced, although Oz rockers Wolfmother have been opening for the Gunners on some of their US tour dates, so they seem like a lock for the Aussie dates.
Guns N’ Roses will kick off their Australian tour at QSAC Stadium in Brisbane on Tuesday 7 February 2017. Tickets go on sale to the general public from Friday 26 August at Ticketek.
