The Broadbeach Jazz Weekend presented by Oasis is back, and bigger and better than ever!

Held from Saturday 20 to Sunday 21 August, the Broadbeach Jazz Weekend features incredible entertainment, roving performers, markets and an array of activities for people of all ages.

Along with top notch music performances the weekend brings along an eclectic vibe with an abundance of street entertainment that is sure to grab your attention from stilt walking, juggling, acrobatics, mime and roving musicians.

Then on the Sunday all of this will blend with the famous Art and Craft Markets in Kurrawa Park, filled with creative bits and pieces.

Broadbeach Alliance’s CEO, Jan McCormick says what makes the Broadbeach Jazz Weekend so unique is that you can soak up the incredible atmosphere from the streets or grab a table at one of the many restaurants, and it’s all within walking distance.

“We have created a weekend to entertain people of all ages inside a family friendly, village style environment,” she says.

This year the event’s music line-up is huge including performances from Bustamento, Monica Trapaga, Hanlon Brothers, Hot Potato Band, Caxton Street Jazz Band, Dezzie D and The Stingrayz.

Nicky Bomba’s Bustmento have spent the last few years performing around the globe and has returned to our sunny shores with a new collection of songs capturing the international flavour of their travels. Enjoy their new show infused with Reggae, Motown, Groove and New Orleans Swamp Boogie vibes!

Monica Trapaga is one of Australia’s most successful and versatile performers known for her regular appearance on ABC’s Play School while continuing to delight adult audiences across the nation with her diverse jazz performances.

She enjoyed monumental success in the early 90’s with “Monica and the Moochers'” and will be bringing her latest release SUGAR to the event, featuring a collection of 1920s and 1930s tunes performed by Australia’s leading Jazz musicians, Bob Barnard, David Seidel and Peter Locke.

The Gold Coast’s own Hanlon Brothers will also make an appearance, embracing a spontaneous performance style with mixture of cultures and genres from Soul, Jazz, R ‘n’ B, Funk and Latin fusion.

With construction underway for a much anticipated upgrade, Surf Parade will be infused with weekend long roving performances plus an eclectic Jazz and Funk style DJ – DJ Don Bronson – mixing tunes and generating a cool vibe.

The Broadbeach Mall Stage will come alive all weekend with a premier line-up of entertainment commencing early morning and going into the evening, with something for everyone – whether it is Trad Jazz, Calypso Roots, New Orleans Swamp Boogie, Funk Swing, or Salsa fan.

This year you can also boogie into Oracle Boulevard with plenty of live music over the two days featuring Maggie Britton, Andrew Baxter, The Furbelows and more.
