The Green Heart Fair is back with sustainable living ideas, celebrity cooking demos, upcycled artworks, local markets and loads of entertainment.
The city’s biggest community sustainability event is returning to Brisbane’s southside, with over 100 of Brisbane’s leading sustainability organisations, businesses, community groups, foodies, artisans, green thumbs and eco-experts sharing the latest knowledge and information on sustainable living.
The free event features plenty of innovative ideas and activities for grown-ups and kids alike, including hands-on workshops for kids and adults on everything from furniture restoration and organic gardens to keeping bees and happy hens.
You can also learn how to cut down your garbage, with ideas on how to re-use and upcycle ‘rubbish’ around the home.
BrisStyle Markets’ artisans will be on hand to showcase their creations, made from local materials.
There’ll also be a live show by the Octonauts for the kids, as well as hands-on art, rock climbing, fire engines, and opportunities to get up close and personal with Australian wildlife.
You can discover new skills in the cooking marquee with celebrity chefs; rub shoulders with Channel 7 celebrities Bill McDonald, Sammie O’Brien and MKR and House Rules contestants; and even cheer on your favourite homemade cart at the Brisbane Billycart Championships.
Green Heart Fair will be held at the Carindale Recreation Reserve (Cadogan Street and Bedivere Street, Carindale) from 8am to 2pm on Sunday 11 September. For more info, visit greenheartfair.com.au.
