Comic powerhouse Amy Schumer has announced her first Australian stand-up tour, including a stop in Brisbane.
The award-winning comedian, actress, writer, producer and director is best known for writing and starring in Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer and the Golden Globe nominated movie, Trainwreck.
Schumer scored two Golden Globe noms for her work on Trainwreck, as well as the Critics Choice Award for Best Actress in a Comedy. She was also given The Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy at the 2015 BAFTAs.
She’s also had a number of successful TV specials, and continues to sell out venues around the world with her stand-up comedy act.
Schumer’s album, Cutting, landed in the top five of the Billboard Charts. In August, she’ll release her first book, The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo. She’s currently shooting a mother-daughter adventure comedy opposite Goldie Hawn.
Not just a funny woman, Schumer also made headlines for her stance on gun control after a shooting at a screening of Trainwreck, and her takedown of the ‘plus-size’ label after Glamour Magazine included her in their Chic at any Size issue.
She’s only performed once in Australia before (in Melbourne last year, while in the country to promote Trainwreck, making this her first national tour of our fair island continent.
Amy Schumer will play the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Wednesday 14 December. Pre-sale tickets will be available from 1pm on Wednesday 13 July, with tickets going on sale to general audiences on midday Thursday 14 July.
