Brisbane will welcome its first annual Festival of the Goat this Saturday (9 July), celebrating all things goat!
Held at New Globe Theatre, the quirky festival will feature live music by goat-inspired bands, goat art, goat experiences and a goat petting zoo.
Enjoy a range of performances from wild goat-themed bands like Peyote Goat, Goatzilla, Lord Goat, Astrogoat and Belligerent Goat, as well as interstate guests The Skatgoats from South Australia and Spider Goat Canyon from Victoria.
During the day, festival goers can check out the Ruckus Slam Goat Hour, a poetry slam meets circus experience where a community of poets and lovers of verse get together to celebrate words (and goats, obviously) in their most beautiful forms. It’ll be Musos vs. Poets battling it out for the top prize!
There will also be a surprisingly comprehensive array of goat-inspired art work on display, featuring submissions from Brisbane Bodyart tattoo artists, Nyssa and Geoffro along with other artists. Some of the artwork will be available for purchase on the day.
There’s actually heaps of stuff on offer for kids, too. Kids (and big kids) can play and complete challenges as a goat in the action-packed video game, Goat Simulator, which will be displayed on the New Globe Theatre cinema screen, or they can check out White Ridge Farm’s goat petting zoo where they can pat and feed the goats, as well as meet the farm’s cutest resident, the three-legged baby goat!
Sounds goat-tastic! Festival of the Goat will be held this Saturday 9 July at New Globe Theatre at 220 Brunswick Street in Fortitude Valley. For more info, visit Festival of the Goat’s Facebook page.
