The Brisbane Brick Event, billed as the biggest event of its kind to be held in Brisbane, will showcase spectacular creations built entirely from LEGO.
Featuring the work of over 20 talented brick builders (or, as they’re known in LEGO circles, Master Builders), the fan-run Brisbane Brick Event will feature over 30 different exhibits made from LEGO bricks.
Exhibits will be themed around Space and Star Wars, City (with working trains), Ships, Robotics, Dinosaurs, Wild West, and operating Technic vehicles, and will feature more than 10 of ‘The Brickman’ Ryan McNaught’s most popular models, including the recently completed ‘Brisbane Signature Build’.
The particularly detailed works on display will feature in excess of 30,000 pieces each, and event organisers insist that none of it is glued (because that would be sacrilege). The total brick count will be in excess of one million pieces.
The displays will continually evolve and expand, and event organisers say the time spent creating the work will be ‘incalculable’. Needless to say, set-up of the individual displays will be a meticulous process.
There’ll also be build-and-play tables, which are expected to be popular with kids and adults of all ages, and retail outlets selling LEGO products, games, merch and even jewellery.
The Brisbane Brick Event will be held at the Royal International Convention Centre (600 Gregory Terrace, Bowen Hills) on Saturday 14 May (9am to 5pm) and Sunday 15 May (9am to 5pm), with last entry admitted 30 minutes before closing.
